Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb (450g) boneless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
- 1 tablespoon garam masala
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon chili powder (adjust to taste)
- 1 cup tomato puree
- 1 cup heavy cream
- Salt to taste
- Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Prep the Chicken: Cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces for even cooking.
- Sauté Aromatics: Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onion and cook until soft and translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add Garlic and Ginger: Stir in minced garlic and ginger, cooking for another minute until fragrant.
- Spice It Up: Add garam masala, turmeric, and chili powder. Stir well to coat the onions and release their flavors.
- Cook the Chicken: Add chicken pieces to the skillet, cooking for 5-7 minutes until browned on all sides.
- Add Tomato Puree: Pour in the tomato puree and let it simmer for 5 minutes to develop the flavors.
- Finish with Cream: Reduce heat to low and stir in the heavy cream. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce is creamy and well combined.
- Season to Taste: Add salt as needed and give everything a final stir.
- Serve: Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with rice or naan. Enjoy!
Notes
For a dairy-free version, substitute heavy cream with coconut milk. Adjust chili powder for your preferred spice level.
