For the Chicken Strips:
- 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch strips
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for extra crispness)
For the Garlic Soy Honey Glaze:
- ½ cup low-sodium soy sauce
- ½ cup honey
- ¼ cup water
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger (optional)
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
For Garnish (Optional):
- Toasted sesame seeds
- Thinly sliced green onions
Instructions
- If using cornstarch, toss chicken strips with cornstarch in a bowl until lightly coated.
- In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, water, garlic, sesame oil, ginger (if using), and red pepper flakes (if using).
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add chicken strips in a single layer and cook for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through.
- Pour the glaze over the cooked chicken, stirring to coat.
- Simmer for 2-3 minutes until the glaze thickens and becomes sticky.
- Remove from heat and serve immediately, garnished with sesame seeds and green onions if desired.
Notes
For a spicier version, add extra red pepper flakes or a tablespoon of chili garlic sauce. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
