Greek Chicken Burgers

A symphony of Mediterranean flavours in every bite! These Greek Chicken Burgers are juicy, packed with feta, olives, and sun-dried tomatoes, and topped with a refreshing tzatziki sauce.

For the Aromatic Chicken Patties:

  • 1.5 lbs ground chicken
  • ½ cup feta cheese, crumbled
  • ½ cup Kalamata olives, pitted and chopped
  • ¼ cup sun-dried tomatoes, oil-packed, drained and chopped
  • ¼ cup red onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp fresh oregano, chopped
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper

For the Cooling Tzatziki Sauce:

  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • ½ cup cucumber, grated and squeezed dry
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper

For Serving:

  • Pita bread or burger buns
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Tomato slices
  • Red onion slices (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground chicken, feta, olives, sun-dried tomatoes, red onion, minced garlic, oregano, egg, salt, and pepper.
  2. Gently mix until just combined, then shape into 4-6 patties.
  3. Grill over medium heat for 5-7 minutes per side, pan-fry in olive oil, or bake at 400°F (200°C) for 15-20 minutes.
  4. Prepare tzatziki sauce by combining yogurt, grated cucumber, minced garlic, dill, lemon juice, olive oil, salt, and pepper.
  5. Assemble the burgers with patties, tzatziki sauce, and toppings on pita or buns.
  6. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

Add red pepper flakes for spice, extra fresh herbs for an aromatic boost, or swap feta for halloumi cheese. For a vegetarian option, replace the chicken with mashed chickpeas or grilled halloumi.
