  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil For frying the arepas.

Instructions
 

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the arepa flour and salt. Gradually add the warm water, mixing until a dough forms.
  • Let the dough rest for about 5-10 minutes to absorb the water.
  • Divide the dough into equal portions, roll into balls, and flatten to form patties.
  • Place cheese in the center of each patty, fold the edges over, and reshape.
  • Heat a skillet over medium heat, add oil, and cook the arepas for 5-7 minutes on each side until golden-brown.
  • Remove from skillet, let cool slightly, and slice open to reveal the cheese.
  • Serve warm with your favorite toppings.
