  • 1 pound Ground Beef Choose lean ground beef to reduce excess fat.
  • 1 cup Long-Grain White Rice Rinse before cooking to remove excess starch.
  • 1 medium Onion Finely chopped.
  • 2 cloves Garlic Minced.
  • 2 cups Beef Broth Enhances the flavor of the rice.
  • 1 can Diced Tomatoes 14.5 ounces, adds moisture and acidity.
  • 2 cups Cheddar Cheese Shredded, for the topping.
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil For sautéing the onion and garlic.

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef for about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  • Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until the onion is translucent.
  • Stir in the diced tomatoes (with juices) to the mixture.
  • Add the rinsed rice and beef broth, stirring to combine.
  • Season with salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning. Mix well.
  • Transfer the mixture to a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • Top with shredded cheddar cheese.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  • Let it cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Consider adding mixed vegetables or using different types of cheese for variations.
