Instructions
Slice the onions thinly and set aside.
Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a skillet over medium heat, add onions, and season with salt. Cook slowly for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
In a bowl, combine ground beef with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently and form into two patties.
Cook the patties in the same skillet for 3-4 minutes on each side, adding Swiss cheese on top to melt.
Butter one side of each slice of rye bread.
Assemble the sandwiches with patties and caramelized onions between two slices of rye bread, buttered side out.
Grill the sandwiches in the skillet for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
Slice in half and serve immediately.
