Equipment

  • Heavy-Bottomed Saucepan
  • Wooden Spoon
  • Measuring Cup
  • Square Baking Dish

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Granulated Sugar Provides sweetness and helps achieve fudgy texture.
  • 1 cup Cocoa Powder Unsweetened for rich chocolate flavor.
  • 1 cup Whole Milk Adds creaminess and moisture.
  • ½ cup Unsalted Butter Adds richness and smooth texture.
  • ¼ teaspoon Salt Balances sweetness and enhances chocolate flavor.
  • 1 cup Chopped Nuts (optional) Adds crunch and flavor contrast.

Instructions

  • Gather all your ingredients and tools: a heavy-bottomed saucepan, a wooden spoon, a measuring cup, and a square baking dish lined with parchment paper.
  • In the saucepan, combine the granulated sugar, cocoa powder, and salt. Stir until well mixed.
  • Pour in the whole milk and add the unsalted butter. Turn the heat to medium and stir continuously to dissolve the sugar and cocoa.
  • Once heated, allow the mixture to boil undisturbed for about 5 minutes until it reaches a rich, dark color.
  • Remove from heat and let sit for a minute. If using, fold in the chopped nuts.
  • Vigorously stir the mixture until it cools slightly and thickens.
  • Pour the fudge into the prepared baking dish and smooth the top with a spatula.
  • Allow to cool at room temperature for a few hours or refrigerate until set.
  • Once set, lift out using the parchment paper and cut into squares.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature or in the refrigerator.

Notes
