Meatloaf Ingredients

  • 2 pounds Ground Beef Choose an 80/20 blend for flavor and moisture.
  • 1 medium Onion Finely chopped.
  • 1 medium Green Bell Pepper Diced.
  • 2-3 cloves Garlic Minced.
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs Acts as a binding agent.
  • 2 large Eggs Help bind the ingredients.
  • 1 cup Shredded Provolone or Mozzarella Cheese Adds cheesiness.
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce Enhances beef flavor.
  • Salt and Pepper Season to taste.
  • 0.5 cup Ketchup For flavor and moisture.

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large skillet, heat a tablespoon of oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and green bell peppers. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until soft.
  • Add the minced garlic and sauté for an additional minute until fragrant.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, sautéed vegetables, breadcrumbs, eggs, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, salt, and pepper. Mix gently.
  • Fold in the shredded cheese until evenly distributed.
  • Transfer the mixture to a greased loaf pan or shape it into a loaf on a lined baking sheet.
  • Spread a thin layer of ketchup over the top for added flavor.
  • Bake for 60-75 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
  • Allow to rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For variations, consider adding jalapeños for heat or using different cheeses for flavor.
