Cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces.
In a mixing bowl, combine yogurt, garam masala, turmeric, cumin, and salt. Whisk until blended.
Add chicken pieces to the marinade, ensuring they are well-coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
Heat cooking oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add marinated chicken and cook until golden brown and cooked through.
Remove chicken from skillet and set aside. In the same skillet, melt butter, then add garlic and ginger. Sauté until fragrant.
Add tomato puree and cook for 5 minutes. Then stir in heavy cream and let it simmer.
Return chicken to the skillet, stirring to coat with sauce. Simmer for an additional 5-10 minutes.
Adjust salt to taste and serve hot, garnished with cilantro.
