Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Boneless, Skinless Chicken Breasts Ideal for this recipe.
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil Adds moisture and helps create a crispy exterior.
  • 2 teaspoons Southwestern Spice Mix Blend of cumin, paprika, chili powder, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  • 4 large Flour Tortillas Provides a soft, pliable base.
  • 1 cup Shredded Lettuce Adds a refreshing crunch.
  • 1 medium Diced Tomato Brightens the wrap with color and freshness.
  • 1 cup Shredded Cheese Cheddar or Monterey Jack recommended.
  • ½ cup Sour Cream or Greek Yogurt Adds creaminess and tang.
  • 1 medium Avocado Sliced for richness.
  • 1 handful Fresh Cilantro Chopped for freshness.

Instructions

  • 1. Begin by preparing the chicken. Pat the chicken breasts dry with a paper towel.
  • 2. In a medium bowl, combine the olive oil and the Southwestern spice mix. Whisk until well blended.
  • 3. Coat the chicken breasts in the oil-spice mixture and let marinate for 15-30 minutes if time allows.
  • 4. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add the marinated chicken. Cook for about 6-7 minutes on each side until golden brown and fully cooked.
  • 5. Remove the chicken from the skillet and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing into thin strips.
  • 6. Assemble the wraps by laying a tortilla flat, adding lettuce, chicken, tomatoes, cheese, avocado, sour cream, and cilantro.
  • 7. Fold the sides of the tortilla inward and roll tightly from the bottom up. Optionally, place seam-side down in the skillet for a crispy finish.
  • 8. Slice the wraps in half diagonally and serve immediately.

Notes

For variations, consider adding jalapeños for spice, black beans for nutrition, or using different proteins like shrimp or beef.
