Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13-inch baking pan.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Whisk until well blended.
  • Cream the softened unsalted butter and granulated sugar together using an electric mixer on medium speed for 3-4 minutes until light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Scrape down the sides of the bowl.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the creamed butter and sugar, alternating with the milk. Mix just until combined.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly. Tap the pan on the counter to release air bubbles.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Prepare your salted caramel sauce if making from scratch, then drizzle it generously over the cooled cake.
  • Slice the cake into squares or rectangles and serve with optional toppings like whipped cream or ice cream.
