Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13-inch baking pan.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Whisk until well blended.
Cream the softened unsalted butter and granulated sugar together using an electric mixer on medium speed for 3-4 minutes until light and fluffy.
Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Scrape down the sides of the bowl.
Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the creamed butter and sugar, alternating with the milk. Mix just until combined.
Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly. Tap the pan on the counter to release air bubbles.
Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Prepare your salted caramel sauce if making from scratch, then drizzle it generously over the cooled cake.
Slice the cake into squares or rectangles and serve with optional toppings like whipped cream or ice cream.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days.
