Ingredients
  

Potatoes

  • 4 large Russet Potatoes Peeled and sliced thinly.

Smoked Sausage

  • 1 pound Smoked Sausage Sliced into ¼-inch rounds.

Cheese

  • 2 cups Shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese For topping.

Cream

  • 2 cups Heavy Cream For the sauce.

Butter

  • 4 tablespoons Unsalted Butter Melted.

Garlic

  • 2 cloves Garlic Minced.

Seasoning

  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Black Pepper

Garnish

  • 1 handful Fresh Parsley Chopped, for garnish.

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Grease a large baking dish with butter.
  • Wash, peel, and slice the potatoes thinly (about 1/8 inch thick).
  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sliced smoked sausage for 5-7 minutes until browned.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Stir well.
  • Layer the ingredients in the baking dish: start with potatoes, then sausage, and sprinkle cheese.
  • Repeat the layering until all ingredients are used, finishing with cheese on top.
  • Pour the cream mixture evenly over the layers.
  • Drizzle melted butter over the top layer of cheese.
  • Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  • Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
  • Let it rest for about 10 minutes before serving.
  • Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

For variations, consider adding vegetables or different cheeses. This dish can also be made ahead of time.
