Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Grease a large baking dish with butter.
Wash, peel, and slice the potatoes thinly (about 1/8 inch thick).
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sliced smoked sausage for 5-7 minutes until browned.
In a mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Stir well.
Layer the ingredients in the baking dish: start with potatoes, then sausage, and sprinkle cheese.
Repeat the layering until all ingredients are used, finishing with cheese on top.
Pour the cream mixture evenly over the layers.
Drizzle melted butter over the top layer of cheese.
Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
Let it rest for about 10 minutes before serving.
Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.
Notes
For variations, consider adding vegetables or different cheeses. This dish can also be made ahead of time.
