Sloppy Joe Filling

  • 1 pound Ground Beef Use lean ground beef for a hearty and protein-rich component.
  • 1 medium Onion Finely chopped.
  • 1 medium Green Bell Pepper Finely chopped.
  • 2 cloves Garlic Minced.
  • 1 cup Tomato Sauce Can use low-sodium or herb-infused.
  • 1/4 cup Ketchup Adds sweetness and depth.
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce Introduces umami flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard Provides a subtle tang.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt Adjust to taste.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Pepper Adjust to taste.
  • 1 cup Shredded Cheese For serving, use cheddar or your favorite blend.
  • 1/4 cup Fresh Parsley Chopped, for garnish.

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • Wash and scrub the baking potatoes thoroughly, then pat them dry.
  • Poke several holes in each potato with a fork to allow steam to escape.
  • Rub the potatoes with olive oil and season with salt.
  • Place the potatoes directly on the oven rack or on a baking sheet and bake for 45-60 minutes until fork-tender.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Add the chopped onion and green bell pepper to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes until softened.
  • Add the minced garlic and sauté for an additional minute until fragrant.
  • Pour in the tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, and mustard, stirring to combine.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste, and let simmer over low heat for about 10 minutes.
  • Remove the baked potatoes from the oven and let cool for a few minutes.
  • Slice each potato open lengthwise and fluff the insides with a fork.
  • Spoon the Sloppy Joe mixture into each potato and top with shredded cheese.
  • Garnish with chopped parsley and serve immediately.

Notes
