Ingredients

  • 1 inch Fresh Turmeric Root Peeled and grated.
  • 1 inch Fresh Ginger Root Peeled and grated.
  • 4 cups Water Fresh, filtered water.
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon Juice Freshly squeezed.
  • to taste Honey or Maple Syrup Natural sweetener.
  • 1 stick Cinnamon Stick Optional.
  • 2-3 whole Peppercorns Optional.

Instructions
 

  • Wash and peel the fresh turmeric and ginger roots. Grate or slice them finely.
  • In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups of fresh, filtered water to a boil over medium-high heat.
  • Add the grated turmeric and ginger to the boiling water and return to a boil.
  • Reduce heat to low and let the tea simmer for about 10-15 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and strain the tea into a heatproof vessel using a fine mesh strainer.
  • While warm, stir in honey or maple syrup and lemon juice to taste.
  • If desired, add a cinnamon stick or whole peppercorns for extra flavor.
  • Serve warm or chilled over ice.

Notes

For variations, consider adding herbal infusions or using coconut milk for a creamier texture.
