Instructions
Wash and peel the fresh turmeric and ginger roots. Grate or slice them finely.
In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups of fresh, filtered water to a boil over medium-high heat.
Add the grated turmeric and ginger to the boiling water and return to a boil.
Reduce heat to low and let the tea simmer for about 10-15 minutes.
Remove from heat and strain the tea into a heatproof vessel using a fine mesh strainer.
While warm, stir in honey or maple syrup and lemon juice to taste.
If desired, add a cinnamon stick or whole peppercorns for extra flavor.
Serve warm or chilled over ice.
Notes
For variations, consider adding herbal infusions or using coconut milk for a creamier texture.
