  • 1 medium Onion Finely chopped.
  • 1-2 pieces Jalapeño Peppers Finely diced, seeds removed for less heat.
  • 1 handful Cilantro Roughly chopped.
  • 1 tablespoon Lime Juice Freshly squeezed.
  • 1 teaspoon Salt Adjust to taste.

Instructions
 

  • Gather all your ingredients, ensuring tomatoes are ripe, onion is fresh, and jalapeños are firm.
  • Rinse tomatoes under cold water, pat dry, slice in half, remove seeds if desired, and dice into small pieces.
  • Peel and finely chop the onion into small pieces.
  • Cut jalapeños in half, remove seeds and membranes, and finely dice.
  • Chop cilantro leaves, discarding thick stems.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine diced tomatoes, chopped onion, diced jalapeños, and cilantro. Gently toss.
  • Squeeze fresh lime juice over the mixture and sprinkle with salt. Mix thoroughly.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. Let sit for 15-20 minutes at room temperature.
  • Give the pico de gallo a gentle stir before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
