  • 1 cup Milk Hydrates the dumpling mix.
  • 2 teaspoons Baking powder Ensures dumplings rise during cooking.
  • 1 teaspoon Salt Enhances flavor.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black pepper Adds a hint of spice.
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced Infuses a fragrant, savory note.
  • Parsley, for garnish Adds a pop of color and freshness.

Instructions

  • Begin by preparing your ingredients. Dice the onions, carrots, and celery into small pieces, ensuring they are uniform in size for even cooking. Shred the cooked chicken and set aside.
  • In a large pot, heat a tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onions, carrots, and celery, sautéing until the vegetables are softened and the onions are translucent, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Add the minced garlic and sauté for an additional minute until fragrant.
  • Pour in the chicken broth and bring the mixture to a gentle boil. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Once boiling, reduce the heat to a simmer and add the shredded chicken to the pot. Stir well to combine.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix well.
  • Gradually pour in the milk, stirring just until the mixture forms a soft dough.
  • Drop spoonfuls of the dumpling batter directly onto the simmering broth, spacing them out evenly.
  • Cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid and allow the dumplings to steam for about 15-20 minutes.
  • Check the dumplings for doneness. They should be fluffy and cooked through.
  • Once cooked, taste the broth and adjust the seasoning if necessary.
  • Serve hot, garnished with freshly chopped parsley.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. Reheat gently on the stove, adding a splash of broth if necessary.
