Instructions
Peel, core, and slice the apples into thin wedges.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples with brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract. Toss until evenly coated.
Add butter to the bottom of the slow cooker.
Pour the apple mixture over the melted butter, spreading evenly.
Add water to the slow cooker to create steam.
Cover and cook on low for 4 to 6 hours, checking for tenderness.
Once cooked, stir gently to combine juices with apples.
Serve warm as a side dish or dessert.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Can be reheated easily.
