Ingredients
  

Bread

  • 1 loaf French baguette or Italian bread About 12-14 inches long, crusty bread is ideal.

Oil and Seasoning

  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil Enhances flavor and helps achieve a golden-brown finish.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder Adds subtle flavor.
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt Enhances natural flavors.
  • to taste freshly ground black pepper Elevates overall flavor.
  • optional fresh herbs Chopped rosemary, thyme, or basil can be mixed in.

Toppings

  • as desired assorted toppings Fresh tomatoes, mozzarella, ricotta, roasted vegetables, or spreads.

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Slice the baguette into 1/2-inch thick slices.
  • In a small bowl, combine olive oil, garlic powder, sea salt, and black pepper. Mix in fresh herbs if desired.
  • Brush or drizzle the olive oil mixture onto one side of each bread slice.
  • Arrange the slices on a baking sheet, oil-side up, ensuring space between each slice.
  • Toast in the oven for about 8-10 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool slightly.
  • Top with your desired toppings and serve immediately.

Notes

Store leftover crostini in an airtight container to maintain crispiness. Add toppings just before serving.
