Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a medium mixing bowl, combine the crushed chocolate cookies with the melted butter. Stir until all the cookie crumbs are thoroughly coated.
Press the cookie mixture firmly into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch pie pan. Bake for about 10 minutes, then allow to cool completely.
In a large bowl, combine the pudding mix with the milk. Whisk together for about 2 minutes until the mixture thickens.
Gently fold in the whipped topping until well combined.
Pour the chocolate pudding mixture into the cooled cookie crust and spread it evenly.
Drizzle the chocolate syrup over the top of the pie.
Garnish with chocolate shavings.
Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight before serving.
Slice into wedges and enjoy your mud pie cold.
Notes
This dessert can be customized with various toppings or flavors. Consider adding mint extract or peanut butter for a twist.
