Bread of choice (sourdough, whole grain, or white)
Choose sturdy bread that can hold the cheese.
Cheese
2-3
ounces
Cheese blend (cheddar, mozzarella, American)
Adjust based on preference for cheesiness.
Butter
1-2
tablespoons
Unsalted butter
Spread on the outside of the bread.
Seasoning
Garlic powder, onion powder, or paprika
Optional for extra flavor.
Optional Fillings
Sliced tomatoes, cooked spinach, or avocado
Optional for added nutrition and taste.
Instructions
Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread.
On the unbuttered side of one slice, layer the cheese evenly.
Add any optional fillings on top of the cheese.
Top with the second slice of bread, buttered side facing out.
Place the sandwich in the air fryer basket.
Cook for about 5 minutes, checking for a golden-brown crust.
Remove the sandwich and let it rest for a minute before slicing.
Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce or side.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days. Reheat in the air fryer.
