Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare an 8x8-inch baking pan.
In a mixing bowl, combine the granulated sugar and melted butter until well mixed.
Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
Sift in the cocoa powder, flour, and salt, and fold gently until combined.
If using, fold in the chocolate chips.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
Bake for 20-25 minutes, until the edges are set but the center is still soft.
Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Slice into squares and serve as desired.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to four days. Can be frozen for up to three months.
