Instructions
In a small bowl, combine 2 teaspoons of active dry yeast with 1 and ½ cups of warm water. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
In a large mixing bowl, combine 4 cups of all-purpose flour and 1 teaspoon of sea salt. Mix them well.
Pour the yeast mixture into the flour and salt mixture. Add 1/4 cup of olive oil and stir until the dough begins to come together.
Knead the dough in the bowl for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Form the dough into a ball and place it in a lightly oiled bowl. Cover and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle, about 1/2 inch thick.
Cut the dough into strips, approximately 1 inch wide, and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Drizzle olive oil over the strips, sprinkle with sea salt and herbs, and let rise for another 30 minutes.
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
Bake the breadsticks for 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown.
Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to two days. For longer storage, freeze them.
