  • 4 cups All-Purpose Flour Measured accurately for best results.
  • 2 teaspoons Active Dry Yeast Essential for fermentation.
  • 1.5 cups Warm Water About 110°F to activate yeast.
  • 0.25 cups Olive Oil Adds richness and flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Sea Salt Enhances flavor and strengthens gluten.
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh Herbs (Optional) Use rosemary or thyme for flavor.

Instructions
 

  • In a small bowl, combine 2 teaspoons of active dry yeast with 1 and ½ cups of warm water. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine 4 cups of all-purpose flour and 1 teaspoon of sea salt. Mix them well.
  • Pour the yeast mixture into the flour and salt mixture. Add 1/4 cup of olive oil and stir until the dough begins to come together.
  • Knead the dough in the bowl for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Form the dough into a ball and place it in a lightly oiled bowl. Cover and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
  • Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle, about 1/2 inch thick.
  • Cut the dough into strips, approximately 1 inch wide, and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Drizzle olive oil over the strips, sprinkle with sea salt and herbs, and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Bake the breadsticks for 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown.
  • Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to two days. For longer storage, freeze them.
