Ingredients
  

Bread

Eggs

Milk

Cheese

  • 2 cups Shredded cheese (Swiss or cheddar) Choose a cheese that melts well.

Mustard

Salt and Pepper

  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper To taste.

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with non-stick spray or oil.
  • Cut the bread into 1-inch cubes.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk the eggs until fully combined.
  • Add the milk, mustard, salt, and pepper to the eggs and mix well.
  • Layer half of the bread cubes in the greased baking dish.
  • Sprinkle half of the cheese over the first layer of bread.
  • Pour half of the egg mixture over the bread and cheese layer.
  • Repeat the layering with the remaining bread, cheese, and egg mixture.
  • Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil.
  • Bake for 35-40 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until golden brown.
  • Let the casserole rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
  • Serve warm, garnished with fresh herbs if desired.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to three days. Reheat before serving.
