Ingredients
  

Seafood

  • 1 pound Crab Meat Fresh, lump crab meat.
  • 1 pound Shrimp Peeled and deveined.

Sauce Base

  • 4 tablespoons Butter Unsalted.
  • 1/4 cup Flour All-purpose flour.
  • 2 cups Milk Whole milk.
  • 2 cups Cheddar Cheese Shredded sharp cheddar cheese.
  • 1 medium Onion Finely chopped.
  • 2 cloves Garlic Minced.

Seasonings

  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning

Topping

  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 1 tablespoon Butter Melted, for topping.

Garnish

  • 1/4 cup Parsley Fresh, finely chopped.

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Melt 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion and sauté for about 3-4 minutes until translucent.
  • Add minced garlic and cook for another minute. Sprinkle 1/4 cup of flour over the mixture, stirring continuously for about 2 minutes.
  • Gradually pour in 2 cups of milk, whisking constantly until thickened (about 5-7 minutes).
  • Remove from heat and stir in 2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese until melted.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine crab meat and shrimp. Fold in the cheese sauce and season with Old Bay seasoning, salt, and pepper to taste.
  • Transfer the mixture to a greased 9x13-inch baking dish. Combine breadcrumbs with 1 tablespoon of melted butter and sprinkle over the seafood mixture.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown on top.
  • Let rest for 10 minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped parsley.

Notes

This casserole can be customized with different seafood or vegetables. Serve with a fresh salad or garlic bread.
