  • 2 cans Crescent Roll Dough Refrigerated dough for the outer layer.
  • 1 lb Ground Beef or Turkey Cooked until browned.
  • 1 packet Taco Seasoning For flavoring the meat.
  • 2 cups Shredded Cheese Cheddar or Mexican blend.
  • 1 can Diced Tomatoes Adds moisture to the filling.
  • 1 small Chopped Onion Finely chopped for flavor.
  • 0.5 cup Chopped Green Bell Pepper Adds crunch and color.
  • to taste Sour Cream or Greek Yogurt For serving.

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef or turkey until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Drain excess fat, then add chopped onions and green bell pepper. Cook for 3-4 minutes until softened.
  • Sprinkle taco seasoning and add diced tomatoes. Stir and let simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and mix in shredded cheese until melted.
  • Prepare a baking dish by greasing it. Unroll crescent roll dough and lay it flat, overlapping slightly.
  • Spoon the meat and cheese filling into the center of the dough.
  • Fold over the edges of the dough to cover the filling.
  • Brush with melted butter and sprinkle additional cheese on top if desired.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  • Let cool for a few minutes before slicing and serve warm with sour cream or Greek yogurt.

Notes

For variations, consider using black beans for a vegetarian option or adding jalapeños for spice.
