  • 1. In a small bowl, combine warm water and sugar. Sprinkle yeast over the top and let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  • 2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Mix well.
  • 3. Pour the yeast mixture and olive oil into the flour mixture. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.
  • 4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • 5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
  • 6. Punch down the dough, roll it out into a rectangle about ½ inch thick.
  • 7. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Mix minced garlic, melted butter, and parsley in a bowl.
  • 8. Cut the dough into strips about 1 inch wide and tie each strip into a knot.
  • 9. Place knots on a parchment-lined baking sheet, brush with garlic butter mixture, and sprinkle with Parmesan.
  • 10. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days. Reheat in the oven.
