Instructions
 

  • Rinse 1 cup of long-grain rice thoroughly under cold running water and set aside to drain.
  • Melt 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
  • Add one finely chopped medium onion and sauté for about 4-5 minutes until translucent.
  • Stir in 2-3 minced garlic cloves and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
  • Add the rinsed rice to the saucepan and stir to coat the grains with the butter and onion mixture.
  • Pour in 2 cups of chicken or vegetable broth and season with 1 teaspoon of salt and black pepper to taste.
  • Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and let simmer for 18-20 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and let sit covered for an additional 5 minutes.
  • Fluff the rice with a fork and sprinkle with chopped fresh herbs before serving.
  • Serve warm alongside your favorite main courses.
