  • 4 slices Whole Wheat Bread For the sandwich base.
  • 1 bulb Roasted Garlic Roast until soft and caramelized.
  • 8 ounces Cheddar Cheese Sliced or shredded for melting.
  • 4 ounces Swiss Cheese Sliced for added creaminess.
  • 4 tablespoons Unsalted Butter Softened for spreading on bread.
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh Herbs (optional) Finely chopped for added flavor.

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Slice the top off the garlic bulb, drizzle with olive oil, wrap in foil, and roast for 30-35 minutes until soft.
  • Slice the whole wheat bread into ½ inch thick slices.
  • Once the garlic is roasted and cooled, squeeze the cloves into a bowl and mash until smooth.
  • Combine the shredded cheddar and sliced Swiss cheese in a bowl. If using, fold in fresh herbs.
  • Spread 1-2 tablespoons of the roasted garlic spread on one side of each slice of bread.
  • On the non-garlic side of one slice, pile the cheese mixture, then top with the second slice, garlic side facing in.
  • Preheat a skillet over medium heat and spread softened butter on the outside of the sandwich.
  • Place the sandwich in the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes until golden brown, then flip and cook the other side.
  • Remove from skillet, let rest for a minute, then slice in half and serve warm.

Notes

For variations, try different cheese combinations, add sautéed vegetables, or serve with dips.
