Instructions
In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
Add olive oil and salt to the yeast mixture, then gradually mix in the flour until a shaggy dough forms.
Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
Prepare the spinach dip by mixing cream cheese, garlic, spinach, shredded cheese, and black pepper in a bowl.
Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it into a rectangle about 1/2 inch thick.
Cut the dough into 2-inch squares. Place 1 tablespoon of spinach dip in the center of each square and seal.
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and arrange the filled dough balls in a Christmas tree shape on a greased baking sheet.
Cover and let rise for another 20-30 minutes until slightly puffed.
Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and cheese is bubbling.
Let cool for a few minutes before serving warm.
Notes
This dish can be customized with different cheeses or added ingredients like artichokes for variety.
