Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground Beef Lean ground beef is recommended.
  • 4 medium Potatoes Russet or Yukon gold, peeled and sliced thinly.
  • 1 medium Onion Finely chopped.
  • 1-2 cups Shredded Cheese Cheddar or mozzarella for topping.
  • 0.5 cup Milk For creaminess.

Seasonings

  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper
  • to taste Garlic Powder
  • 2 tbsp Butter Melted, for richness.

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef for about 7 to 10 minutes.
  • Drain excess fat, add chopped onion, and sauté for 3 to 4 minutes until translucent.
  • Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder, and cook for another minute.
  • Peel and slice the potatoes into thin rounds.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine milk and melted butter.
  • In a greased baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes, season with salt and pepper.
  • Add the beef and onion mixture over the potatoes.
  • Top with the remaining potato slices and pour the milk and butter mixture over the top.
  • Sprinkle shredded cheese over the casserole.
  • Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  • Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 to 20 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  • Let sit for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

This casserole can be prepared in advance and stored in the refrigerator. It can also be frozen for up to three months.
