Return the apple butter to the pot and cook over low heat for an additional 15-20 minutes.
Test the consistency by placing a small amount on a plate; if it holds its shape, it's ready.
Allow to cool slightly before transferring to sterilized jars for storage.
Seal jars tightly and store in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
