  • 1/2 cup Unsweetened Cocoa Powder High-quality cocoa powder for best flavor.
  • 2 cups Powdered Sugar Also known as confectioners’ sugar.
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter Softened to room temperature.
  • 1/4 cup Milk Adjust for desired consistency.
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Essence Optional but recommended for flavor.

Instructions
 

  • Gather all ingredients on a clean workspace. Ensure butter is softened.
  • Cream the butter in a mixing bowl until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Gradually sift in the cocoa powder and mix until combined.
  • Add the powdered sugar one cup at a time, mixing on low speed until incorporated.
  • Add the milk gradually until the desired consistency is reached.
  • If using, add the vanilla essence and mix until incorporated.
  • Scrape down the sides of the bowl and beat for another 1-2 minutes until fluffy.
  • Your icing is ready! Use immediately or store covered.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
