Wet Ingredients

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk until well combined.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, egg, and melted butter until smooth.
  • Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and gently fold until just combined.
  • Grease a 9-inch square baking dish and pour the batter in, smoothing the top.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes before slicing and serving warm.
