Instructions
Gather all ingredients: basil leaves, garlic, pine nuts, Parmesan cheese, olive oil, salt, and pepper.
Toast the pine nuts in a dry skillet over medium heat for 3-5 minutes until golden brown.
Remove the pine nuts from the skillet and let them cool slightly.
In a food processor, combine the basil leaves, toasted pine nuts, and garlic. Pulse until finely chopped.
Add the grated Parmesan cheese and pulse until well incorporated.
With the processor running, slowly drizzle in the olive oil until the pesto reaches your desired consistency.
Taste and add salt and pepper as needed, blending briefly to combine.
Transfer the pesto to a clean jar or container. Store in the refrigerator for up to a week.
Notes
For variations, consider adding lemon juice, different herbs, or using other nuts.
