Potatoes

Dairy

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter Brings creaminess and flavor.
  • 1/2 cup milk Adjust for desired creaminess.

Seasonings

Instructions
 

  • Peel and cut the russet potatoes into even-sized chunks.
  • Place the potato chunks in a large pot, cover with cold water, and season with salt.
  • Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until tender, about 15-20 minutes.
  • Drain the potatoes and let them sit for a few minutes to allow excess moisture to escape.
  • Return the potatoes to the pot over low heat to evaporate any remaining moisture.
  • Add the butter to the warm potatoes and mash until desired consistency is reached.
  • Stir in the sour cream and milk until well combined and creamy.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Transfer to a serving bowl and garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
