Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Boil a large pot of salted water and cook the lasagna noodles until al dente. Drain and set aside.
In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, beaten egg, half of the grated Parmesan, chopped basil, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
In another bowl, season the marinara sauce with additional spices if desired.
Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish.
Layer lasagna noodles over the sauce, then spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles.
Sprinkle mozzarella cheese over the ricotta, followed by marinara sauce. Repeat layers, finishing with noodles and sauce.
Top with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes, then remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until bubbly and golden.
Let the lasagna rest for 15 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
Consider adding sautéed vegetables or proteins for variations.
